Introduction

My goal is to help improve your relationships - with yourself, your partner and your loved ones. A little background on me and my approach: I hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University. I also have years of experience working as a first responder and helping to care for patients in oncology, primary care and community mental health. I chose to specialize in marriage and family therapy because I value relationships. Humans are social creatures and we need each other. I am interested in the interpersonal systems that surround us all. Meaning, I won't just try to make sense of you on an individual level - I want to dig into the dynamics of your relationships, group interactions, family life and early childhood. Each and every person has a story to tell, and I want to understand the influences that helped to write those stories. I work with individuals, couples and families. I believe change happens through new experiences and new insight. This directly influences the way I show up personally and the way I practice therapy. I believe in evidence-based approaches in therapy, having trained extensively in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a method for helping couples release negative patterns and find closeness, and in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapeutic treatment designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. I am honest about the fact that there can be obstacles, barriers and potential pitfalls in the process of therapy. Perhaps most important, though, I am an optimist. I know that none of us feel hopeless about things that don't matter, and as long as I'm given the opportunity, I will work my hardest to keep hope alive for you.
