Austin Lee is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT) with the State of Louisiana. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries with an Emphasis in Missions & Major in Psychology Counseling from Midwestern Baptist College in Kansas City, MO graduating in 2017. Shortly after graduating, he then spent 2 years working with missionaries in Uganda, teaching pastors hermeneutics, about mental health and how it affects their spirituality through social programs, seminars, personal and professional engagement, and using holistically aware language when teaching on other topics. During his time in Uganda, he was on a team collaborating with a social worker and a psychology PhD. Through his previous work volunteering with youth groups, the mentorship of mental health workers, and after seeing the effects of COVID, he saw a need for more mental health workers and began pursuing his master’s degree in counseling with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, graduating in May 2024. Austin is a Christian and believes that even though suffering happens everyone can find hope, grace, and peace. He seeks to honor and respect each person's spiritual beliefs, values, and worldviews without judgment. He does not want to impose his own religious beliefs onto clients, he has a desire to better understand his clients’ worldview so that they can integrate and utilize it to grow the counseling relationship and achieve healing. Austin has an awareness of the complexity of each individual and sees the value in the integration and inclusion of each client’s culture, spirituality, interests, and beliefs in counseling and finding the therapy model that works best for each client. Austin has a heart for helping individuals, couples, and families overcome trauma and negative experiences in their lives so they can grow and thrive.Austin's areas of focus include working with adult individuals, couples, and families working through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addictions, infidelity, or sexual dysfunctions. He has specialized training and a heart for working with individuals struggling with sexual addictions and overcoming the effects of it on individuals and couples. He has training and experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Sand Tray training, Spiritual Abuse Assessment Training, Prepare/Enrich Premarital Counseling and Gottman Method Couples Therapy
