Welcome, my name is Astrid, and I am a Mexican cisgender woman. I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Social Work. I have worked as a community organizer to help communities overcome oppressive systems and create social change. I was able to carry the skills I developed in organizing into my therapy practice by implementing values such as community, empowerment, and safety. Throughout my journey, I have worked as a bilingual trauma therapist for sex trafficking and domestic violence survivors. I have worked extensively with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression through an empowerment approach. Additionally, I incorporate a trauma-focused, neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care into my approach. During therapy, you will be the center and director of your healing while I provide support, tools, and perspective in your journey. I utilized trauma-informed interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Somatic/ Body Oriented Approaches, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. It is important to me that I understand the person as a whole and believe building a therapeutic relationship is essential to creating meaningful change. You can email me to schedule a free ten-minute consultation to answer any questions you may have and see if I will be a good fit to meet your needs and goals. I look forward to hearing from you
