Introduction

Dr. Ashley Schwartzman is a clinical psychologist at the Cleveland Psychology Clinic, where she provides evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), dialectical behavior therapy prolonged exposure (DBT PE), and couples therapy using the Gottman Method. Dr. Schwartzman specializes in treating adolescents, adults, parents, and families with borderline personality disorder, anxiety and trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and relational conflict. She takes a collaborative emotion-focused approach to therapy and incorporates mindfulness, behaviorism, and values-based interventions to facilitate self-awareness and personal growth. Dr. Schwartzman graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She worked as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology at Vanderbilt University and the Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center prior to attending graduate school. Dr. Schwartzman earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and completed her predoctoral internship at The Guidance Center in Leavenworth, Kansas. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts at McLean Hospital in the 3East Adolescent DBT Program where she served as a lead clinician and group facilitator for adolescents and their families in the Intensive Residential Program and in the Partial Hospital Program. Following her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Schwartzman has been practicing in Boston, Massachusetts at Boston Child Study Center, LLC as an individual therapist for adolescents and adults, parent coach, family therapist, DBT skills group leader, and as the Director of Couples Therapy. Dr. Schwartzman completed the Behavioral Tech DBT Foundational Training in October 2016. She provides comprehensive DBT services including individual DBT, family therapy, parent coaching, skills training, and phone coaching. Dr. Schwartzman is part of a consultation team and values working within a multidisciplinary model with other community providers. Dr. Schwartzman completed the DBT PE Intensive Training in October 2017 and incorporates exposure therapy within a DBT framework to treat posttraumatic stress disorder.
