As a therapist my view is that therapy is the result of relationship building, developing a genuine alliance with each other so you can make healthy choices. Being present-focused together in our therapy session, you are welcome to express yourself without judgment, without criticism, without worry. I support you by validating your lived experience, past and present. I empathize with your challenges and your impediments by seeing you and witnessing your struggles. By active listening I reflect what you share with me nudging you to consider areas of your life that you might be overlooking. Assessing together, we will explore enduring questions: "Who am I?" "How to connect?" "What has happened to me?" "What change do I seek and how do I change?" As a result, you will gradually step into a mindset of action, create a corrective course, and be more a participant in your becoming, rather than feeling led by old, fixed patterns of the past, those that have interfered with your success and well-being. We will accentuate your personal strengths and use them to affirm your sense of self. Most importantly, we are building the necessary trust and safety essential for you to begin again. Together we will find you new skills to practice as ways to manage areas of your life that are activating, such as those that commonly arise related to family, friends, or work. This correlates with your emotional experience and the effort put forth in gaining awareness of your day-to-day existence. Being committed in these ways, you will be moving your life forward in the direction that is right for you.
