Annie Jacobs

Welcome! My name is Annie Jacobs and I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Trauma therapist. My private practice is located in Taylorsville, UT and I offer both Telehealth options and in-person. I am Level 2 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and trained in EMDR. The main modality of therapy I use is Internal Family Systems IFS). I have found IFS to be a very gentle approach to healing trauma and the most comprehensive way of understanding our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while also connecting with your true Self. I will naturally weave in techniques from other modalities of therapy to meet my clients where the are at on their healing journey to help them find the coping tools that work the best for them. I understand that different coping tools may work differently for different clients, so I don't like telling my clients "just keep doing it", especially if the tool isn't working for them. You'll hear me say this a lot: find what works for you. I understand the complexity of the nervous system when it comes to trauma work and will often combine both IFS and EMDR to help re-wire the brain to create lasting healing changes. Along with providing helpful and useful coping tools to manage triggers, I like to help my clients heal from their past so they can be present in their daily life and look forward to their future. I believe the reason we participate in certain behaviors is to meet underlying needs that are both known and unknown, which can lead to emotional distress, such as panic attacks, binging behaviors, depression or dissociation. I will help you understand the reason why behind your emotions and behaviors so you can heal from your past and create a new healthy and happy life.
