Hi, I'm Anne Marie! I am currently a Resident in Counseling and under clinical supervision while working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. As a therapist, I embody authenticity, creating a space where you can truly be yourself. My easy-going nature fosters a comfortable environment for exploration and growth. I believe in the healing power of laughter and strive to infuse sessions with warmth and humor. Together, we'll navigate challenges with compassion and genuine connection, fostering positive change and personal development along the way. I feel honored to bear witness to my client’s life stories and seek to create a space in which clients feel safe in expressing themselves. I operate from a strengths-based approach, assisting clients in identifying and nurturing their inner strengths while equipping them with tools for personal growth. I deeply believe in the inherent wisdom of my clients and see myself as a guide, helping them navigate their path towards personal growth and self-discovery. I utilize an eclectic approach in therapy, meaning I tailor my approach to best fit the needs of my client. I integrate techniques and principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and other evidence-based modalities into my practice. I enjoy working with teens, adults, and couples experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, life transitions, and issues with self-esteem. After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Marketing, I spent nearly five years in the corporate world, holding a management position, before transitioning into a career as a therapist. Choosing this career was the realization of a lifelong passion to assist others, and it stands as one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made! I earned my Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University and gained valuable experience in both college counseling centers and private practice settings. In my free time, you will find me spending time with my family, friends, and 90lb golden retriever. I am currently involved with two book clubs and love reading historical fiction and thrillers, in addition to listening to crime podcasts. You may also find me somewhere outdoors or exploring new places in RVA!
