Introduction

I have learned the value of dabbling. By dabbling in adjacent fields one can begin to see connections and the world can make more sense. Most of my work intercepts between data and society. I tend to sprinkle in a bit of western psychological research into eastern wisdom traditions. Care to embark on a journey of transcendence and holistic healing? My name is Angela Tapp, and as a trauma-informed, humor-infused, transpersonal psychotherapist, I specialize in guiding individuals to “let go”, to rise above the ego, explore the depths of human consciousness, and to embark on profound journeys of self-discovery. My approach focuses on navigating various states of consciousness and awareness to promote healing, growth, ego dissolution and self-transcendence. Professional and Academic Background: As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and soon Massachusetts, I hold a Master’s in Counseling with a concentration on schools and couples/family therapy from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. My career began in Austin at AmeriCorps, where I worked with Communities in Schools of Austin and the DelValle Opportunity Center, counseling at-risk students and their families. In these early days, I incorporated hypnotherapy and found it to be a gentle but powerful tool. This is a time tested technique that I continue to incorporate to facilitate deep healing and transformation. Since moving to Colorado in 2005, I have collaborated with agencies and private psychotherapy practices throughout the state. I’ve pursued training in EMDR Level I & II, PrePare and Enrich, Psychedelic Assisted Therapies, Zero Suicide and many other areas. Before COVID I explored the impact of technology addiction on behavior. A significant milestone in my professional journey was my tenure as full time faculty at Naropa University’s Master’s in Clinical Mental Health, Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling. This experience was a launching point into my love for transpersonal psychotherapy. I delved deeply into wisdom traditions and landed in the world of altered states, neuroscience and consciousness studies. My academic background at Naropa, combined with hands-on experience, and continuing education has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to guide clients through transformative and transcendent experiences. Since Naropa, I have completed training directly from Dr. Phil Wolfson, focusing on “Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Ketamine Methodologies,” trained at the esteemed Beckley Academy, where I studied the therapeutic applications of psychedelics and the ethical considerations surrounding plant-based medicines and off label psychedelics and at Journey Clinical where they incorporate rigorous training in the neuropharmacology of both on label and off label ketamine and therapeutic applications. These programs provided me with a comprehensive foundation in psychedelic-assisted therapy and ketamine assisted psychotherapy rooted in the respect of wisdom traditions and those who came before us. The work that I do requires an important academic focus on the ethical and cultural considerations surrounding plant-based and lab based medicines. I endorse learning wisdom traditions and respect the direction and shared knowledge from indigenous cultures who have used these substances for millennia.
