Introduction

I understand what others may not. When your child has been victimized, your world is completely shattered. You have so many questions, conflicted feelings, and may not know who to trust with your worries. I am here for you. My heart is in advocating for and supporting non-offending caregivers so that they can help their children heal and grow. Many of the caregivers with whom I work need only brief intervention, six to eight weeks or so. Some want support all the way through trial, sentencing, and beyond. I am here for whatever feels right for you and your family. I am an empathetic, experienced Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. My private practice, Battles Therapy & Consultation, is located in Lincoln, Nebraska. I am a nationally certified Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provider, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and am studying to become a nationally certified Play Therapist. Most of my career has been spent in Children's Advocacy Centers, first in Norfolk, Virginia at The Child Abuse Program at The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughter, then in Shawnee, Kansas, at Sunflower House, and most recently, at BraveBe, Child Advocacy Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. I began my career in victim services as a Victim Advocate in the Violent Crime Unit at the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to my experience as a trauma-informed mental health therapist, am a nationally trained Forensic Interviewer, a founding member of the United States Navy, Mid-Atlantic Regional Child Sexual Assault Team, and developed one of the first CAC Family Advocacy programs in the Midwest. Let me support you. As someone who can hear and help you handle the most difficult moments of your life. You can lean on me.
