Introduction

My heart is in advocating for and believing in children while helping them heal and grow. I am a Clinical Social Worker (licensed in Nebraska and Virginia). My private practice, Battles Therapy & Consultation, is co-located at BraveBe, Child Advocacy Center, in Lancaster County, Nebraska. I have completed training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am earning consultation hours for national certification. In addition, I am studying to become a nationally certified Play Therapist. Most of my career has been spent in Children's Advocacy Centers, first in Norfolk, Virginia at The Child Abuse Program at The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughter, then in Shawnee, Kansas, at Sunflower House. I began my career in victim services as a Victim Advocate in the Violent Crime Unit at the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to my experience as a trauma-informed mental health therapist, am a nationally trained Forensic Interviewer, a founding member of the United States Navy, Mid-Atlantic Regional Child Sexual Assault Team, and developed one of the first CAC Family Advocacy programs in the Midwest.
