Andrew is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and a Master of Science in Social Work with a specialization in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Louisville. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from his previous work on college campuses. Andrew takes a collaborative, strengths-focused, and non-pathologizing approach to working with clients. In other words, he believes his job is not to show you how to “fix” yourself, but how to unlock and rediscover the skills and strengths you’ve always had. Andrew has seen in his previous work with clients that earning trust, having empathy, and showing unconditional support are the ingredients for a strong therapeutic relationship and successful therapy. Andrew has extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. As a person diagnosed with ADHD later in life, he has also focused on developing effective and insightful ways of helping ADHD clients harness their unique strengths. He is also passionate about working with fellow members of the queer community. Andrew has training and experience working with clients from many backgrounds on a variety of issues. He primarily focuses on working with adolescent (14+) and adult individuals and couples on a variety of issues, including but not limited to: -Depression -Anxiety -Suicidal Ideation -ADHD (in adults as well as adolescents) -Trauma -Grief and Loss -Relationship difficulties -Issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity In his training, Andrew has become proficient in a variety of evidence-based techniques and tailors the therapeutic approach to each client. Common modalities used in therapy often include Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
