Dr. Andrea Keener has been a mental health practitioner, professor, trainer, and lecturer for almost two decades. Dr. Keener is a licensed therapist and qualified supervisor for mental health counseling interns in the State of Florida. She is a Master Level Addiction Professional (MCAP), Certified Trauma Professional (CTP), Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP), ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider, Employee Assistance Specialist Clinical (EAS-C), and Senior Human Resource Professional (SHRM-SCP). She is trained in trauma-focused and narrative therapy, exposure therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Brainspotting, mindfulness meditation, and personality-guided psychotherapy. She has extensive experience, nationally and internationally, as a trainer and lecturer in the areas of crisis response, psychological first aid, psychological interventions to trauma, and emergency management. Her research focuses on positive psychology, anxiety disorders, youth and community responses to trauma, and substance abuse treatment. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Loss and Trauma and has published in a variety of scholarly journals. Her passion about empowering others discover their optimal selves inspired her to co-develop 'Recovering Optimism' (Keener & Keener, 2016), a positive psychology-based intervention approach. She integrates this approach with a broad range of evidence-based treatment techniques to ensure treatment effectiveness.
