Dr. Andrea Croom is a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy to adult clients and offers in person and virtual appointments. She has expertise in working with the intersection of mental health and physical health, including cancer, heart disease, cystic fibrosis and other lung conditions, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and other chronic and life-limiting conditions. She also specializes in fertility and perinatal mental health. Dr. Croom is trained in grief therapy with a focus on death and non-death related losses and life transitions (e.g., parenting, menopause, retirement). Dr. Croom received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She completed pre-doctoral clinical training and an APA-accredited clinical internship in medical and psychiatric settings, including working with the consult liaison service, psychiatric emergency room, and palliative care service at Parkland Memorial Hospital, working with the oncology service at Baylor University Medical Center, and providing neuropsychological testing and individual/family therapy on the psychiatric unit at Zale Lipshy Hospital. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh with the Palliative Care and Oncology departments and provided direct clinical care to adult clients and their caregivers at UPMC in the inpatient and ambulatory settings prior to working in private practice. Dr. Croom has taught at the graduate level, lectured to medical professionals and conducted research on shared decision making and how families and couples cope with chronic/life-limiting illnesses. Dr. Croom uses a supportive, evidence-based, and collaborative style when treating patients. Her approach is rooted in humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness therapies. She values an interdisciplinary approach and often collaborates with physicians, psychiatrists, and specialists to provide comprehensive care.
