Dr. Amy Robinson Ikelheimer has unique training and experience treating patients with chronic medical issues. Evaluations assess the stressors and symptoms that are disrupting your life. Treatment is aimed at learning skills that are known for management of these problems. Having support and good coping skills can help improve your sense of well-being and quality of life - no matter the issue. In addition, Amy can be in touch your other providers (medical doctors, physical therapist, dietitian, etc.) to facilitate an integrative approach to management of your symptoms. Amy earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Mississippi. She completed a Health Psychology internship at the University of Indiana/Purdue University Medical School and a 2-year post-doctoral program in Behavioral Medicine/Pain Management at Dartmouth Medical School where she stayed on as faculty. Amy has worked in research hospitals and academic settings where she assessed and treated individuals with various chronic medical conditions. She has also devoted time to interdisciplinary teams within Pain Management, Gastroenterology and Sleep Medicine departments. Amy uses well researched short-term cognitive-behavioral interventions to help adults manage chronic medical conditions and symptoms. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, insomnia, chronic pain, headache, GI distress, cardiac, allergy, respiratory issues, coping with side effects of medications, and other symptoms that interfere with daily functioning. In addition to adjustment to and management of physical symptoms, Amy is available for basic stress management and coping with life transitions, anxiety disorders, and grief. Amy works with adults and is happy to include family members and other socially supportive friends.
