Introduction

My name is Amber Carlile and I am interested in working with you to help you achieve your goals. I hold a clinical social work license in both Missouri and Kansas. I worked in child welfare for two years, then with adults experiencing mental illness for four years. In all, I have about nine years of varied experience in my current field. I regularly attend training to maintain my education and have worked with folks who come from various diverse circumstances. I strive to be inclusive. I am an LGBTQIA affirming therapist and consider myself well-versed on social justice issues. Studying various forms of oppression and it's impact on our society and the individuals living within it is a passion of mine and has help shaped how I approach my work with clients. I utilize both short term intervention styles such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy which will help you identify immediate areas of opportunity in your life. I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques which can help you identify ways negative thinking is impacting your life and how to change those thoughts when they come up. Most recently, I have trained in EMDR which targets the emotional response of the brain to traumatic incidents through bilateral stimulation. It can provide immediate and long term relief of symptoms associated with trauma.
