I am Amanda Ulmer, Licensed Professional Counselor- Mental Health and a registered Play therapist specializing in helping children. I have been a counselor for 6 years with a variety of experience helping children, adolescents, young adults, adults, families, couples, and facilitating Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups. I help individuals and families improve the quality of their lives despites the challenges they are experiencing. Together we explore history, identify patterns, and learn ways to identify and challenge self-critical thoughts helping develop self-compassion and mindfulness. I help individuals learn to recognize and identify emotions, understand their purpose, while also learning skills to regulate emotions that feel out of control. I also help others improve their self-worth and grow through challenges in their life. I believe in accepting others as they are, providing an unconditional positive regard and compassion throughout the different stages of life. I have an integrative approach meeting the needs of each person varying from CBT, DBT, Person-Centered, Solution Focused, Adlerian, Family Systems, and ART for trauma specific needs. I am passionate about helping others improve the quality of their lives.
