Amanda Mayo MS, LPC, NCC, EMDR-T *Currently Not accepting new clients* My approach to therapy includes guiding clients to their own sense of happiness. My philosophy is that “happiness is therapy in-and-of itself”. However, discovering happiness is where the work is put in. Some individuals may not appreciate their selves, or even be aware of their own identity, therefore may lack their inner sense of happiness. In addition to my person-centered, trauma-informed approach, I utilize DBT, CBT, EMDR, and behavioral schools of thought. I work to teach deep breathing and meditation techniques to assist with managing anxiety and stress in ways which clients can apply to their lives outside of therapy. My goal is to teach one thing which clients can leave with each session to face daily tasks. I have advanced work with addiction-based clients to involve relapse prevention techniques, safety plan preparation, SMART goal setting, and crisis intervention.
