Introduction

Hello, there! Thank you for visiting my profile! Let me tell you a little bit about myself and see if we’re a good fit. Therapy can be a tough process and I believe that connection with your provider is vital for your success and healing. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I provide outpatient therapy. I started my journey to become a therapist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology with a Health Emphasis. As a collegiate track and field athlete, I always felt that the mind and body connection are a critical part of overall wellness. My passion to help others prompted me to complete my Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Psychology in 2011. Additionally, I received hands on training through an externship at Froedtert and The Medical College of Wisconsin from 2014-2015 where I had hands on training completing assessment and therapy with individuals with acute stress reactions, trauma, PTSD, and chronic pain conditions. As a therapist, I have worked in a number of different settings, which include crisis, inpatient and outpatient settings, medical settings, corrections, and vocational/rehabilitation settings. I have been practicing for over ten years in the field. I found I loved outpatient therapy the most because I cherished the connection I was able to build with my clients, as well as the ability to watch people heal. I typically treat individuals with complex trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and other trauma related conditions. I work with children, teens, and adults ages ten and older. As a trauma survivor and someone who has been through their own trauma therapy, I believe that our past can have profound impacts on us without us even realizing it (Shapiro, 2012). I believe in exploring our previous wounds is sometimes can give us insight as to why we feel that way we feel, and why we behave the way we behave. I utilize many trauma-informed treatment modalities, which include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and distress tolerance skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I like to educate clients on how trauma can impact our bodies, thoughts, and behaviors. As a former collegiate track athlete, I enjoy working with athletes with the stressors of competing, as well as body image difficulties that can come with sports (especially for women). In my spare time, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, throwing some weights around my home gym, reading, cooking new recipes, cheering for the Badgers, and hugging my three cats: Addy Mo, and Oliver. I am in network with most major insurances. Please check out FAQ page to see the comprehensive list of all the networks in which we are providers. I look forward to sharing your healing journey with you.
