At Patch Counseling, we are here to guide and support you through the process of change. The core concepts we value are: compassion, collaboration and creativity. We aim to provide a compassionate and non-judgmental place for you to explore the changes you would like to make by meeting you where you are along your life’s path. We will collaborate with you in identifying several ways to achieve the outcome you desire, and I am always open to feedback because it is YOUR therapy experience after all. Therapy isn’t one size fits most. At Patch Counseling, we are creative problem solvers. We use creativity to structure therapy for you, while remaining flexible if we need to make adjustments along the way to ensure your success. Allison specializes in working with your older teen and transitional age adult. Those that are starting to think about what’s next, what college, what job and supporting them and their families through that transition. Your teen might feel overwhelmed, burnout, isolated and confused on what they want for their future, all while trying to manage the here and now of AP classes, extracurricular activities and social commitments. Allison is knowledgable about the competitiveness and rigor associated with Poway USD schools and is able to help teens to create a plan to achieve goals. Things have changed and parents are at a loss of how to communicate with their teen, how much responsibility to give and when to push them towards their full potential or when to let them experience natural consequences. Allison helps parents cope with their own feelings, so they can show up and communicate with their teen by learning their language, all while still maintaining appropriate boundaries and structure. Additionally, Allison knows first hand how it can feel to struggle with perfectionism and neurodivergence as a parent and entrepreneur. It can be overwhelming to attempt to balance your expectations of yourself in both roles. Allison can help you develop a more helpful narrative about this identity that includes compassion and flexibility.
