Thank you for considering Cassell Counseling! My name is Allison B. Cassell. My path to counseling has lots of twists and turns. In 1996, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology with a minor in African American Studies at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. In 2013, I completed a Master of Science program in the Mental Health Counseling program at Walden University. I passed the North Carolina Licensure exam in 2013 earning the Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor – Associate credential from the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. Since that time, I have continued to work in the field as I earned clinical supervised hours towards my Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC# 10245) credential. I completed an Applied Behavior Analysis program at Brandman University in October 2020. In 2018, I became a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (LCAS-A #24524) in the state of North Carolina and hope to take the exam to become a fully Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist by 2022. I have been working in the field of mental health since 2006, primarily in the state of North Carolina with approximately 2 years in Pennsylvania. My work experience in the field of mental health includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with mental and behavioral health issues, including adults with severe and persistent mental illness. I have provided direct support of clients as well as clinical oversight and supervision. My theoretical orientation is a blended one; it starts with a person-centered approach, anchored in cognitive behavioral therapy alongside motivational interviewing, solution-based and reality therapies. My hope is that I can assist you as you work to navigate life's challenges. I have a great passion for the field of mental health which I hope is evident as I work with you to help you achieve your personal best.
