Alexandra (Allie) Finkel, LCSW is a co-founder and therapist at Kind Minds Therapy. Allie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and teacher with several years of experience working directly with children and families in school, community, and hospital based settings. Allie has always had a passion and interest in helping others, specifically children and families. Allie studied psychology and child development at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before she began her career as an educator through Teach For America. While Allie loved teaching, she realized her true passion was to help children thrive socially and emotionally, in all areas of their lives. This passion led her to obtain her masters in social work from Columbia University, where she focused her degree on advanced clinical practice in health, mental health, and disabilities. Allie also holds a post graduate certification in child and family therapy from New York University. Allie's expertise in and understanding of child development and interpersonal relationships helps her to work effectively with clients of all ages. In addition to providing psychotherapy in private practice, Allie also works as a pediatric oncology social worker, where she provides supportive counseling, psychoeducation and case management to patients, siblings, and caregivers in both the inpatient and outpatient hospital setting. Allie is especially passionate about providing education about and supporting families through the emotional impact of chronic & catastrophic illness. In conjunction with her direct clinical work with patients, Allie designs and facilitates comprehensive wellness staff support groups to employees of all disciplines. She has a special interest and focus in embedding emotional wellness into medical school and residency program curricula, and her work in this emerging field has been presented nationally. Allie also has extensive experience providing intensive tutoring to students of all ages -- specializing in improving executive functioning, frustration tolerance, and coping skills to facilitate and complement academic growth.
