Introduction

Hi there! I'm Allie, and I am an Associate Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and a Sex Therapist serving Decatur, Georgia located at WellSpring Counseling. Let’s be honest, healing is difficult and frankly can be really messy at times. As a neurodivergent or "neurospicy" as I call it, polyamorous, pansexual, disabled queer woman in recovery, I can understand how hard it is being a human just trying to experience the world we live in. Sexuality can be difficult to navigate, I desire to navigate with clients during the discomfort. I enjoy navigating with clients what healing around traumatic experiences can feel like. More often than not we can experience sexual shame, guilt, and sometimes even fear around sexuality, as a therapist I work with clients to experience those emotions in a connective way. By addressing sexual concerns in therapy with clients we can promote healing and empowerment by deepening our understanding of us, our relationships, and our community. I view human sexuality as complex and integrative of the mind, body, and spirit. I have received my Masters in Marriage Family Therapy from Mercer University School of Medicine and my sex therapy certification from The American Board of Sexology; American College of Sexologists. What does working with me look like? As a therapist, I am passionate about creating a safe space for clients to navigate what growth and healing can look like. During my collective work with clients and the community, I explore gentle conversations around what support can look like and what healing means for folks, their relationships and our community. I work alongside clients as a resource for growth and relational repair. It's definitely not my jam to “rip bandages off” or make folks go somewhere they aren't ready to go. As a therapist, I enjoy incorporating somatic movement and nurturing that wonderful mind – body connection. So often we loose that connection, let's work together to strengthen it. I may gently challenge folks and I always promise to approach folks' experiences through gentleness, curiosity and with empathy. As a therapist, I believe in meeting clients where they are at and seeing what comes up along our journey. I am here to navigate with folks. I view the therapeutic process as a collaborative effort. I believe for change and growth to happen it is important to cultivate a safe, nurturing relationship between therapist and client(s). Yes, I am a therapist, and I am human first. My work as a therapist is informed through a trauma and multicultural lens. I am passionate about providing care to those who have experienced trauma and the intersectionality of chronic illness with sexuality. I am trained in working with kink and BDSM communities, gender and sexually diverse individuals (LGBTQIA+), neurodivergent folks (ADHD, ASD), and those who identify as non-monogamous and/or polyamorous. I am trained in working with complex trauma (CPTSD AND PTSD), neurosomatic therapy, and sexual trauma. I enjoy working with various relationship and sexual concerns such as decreased desire, desire discrepancy, pelvic pain/painful sex, arousal and orgasm difficulties, and chronic illness that impacts sexuality and intimacy, and healing sexual trauma. My clinical focus in Sex Therapy informs providing accessible mental health services through a systemic, experiential and emotions focused lens for individuals, couples, and groups of people who are experiencing distress from psychological, physiological, emotional, medical, and/or social issues surrounding sexuality. I utilize a combination of Somatic Trauma therapy, EFT, systems theory and Experiential therapy. In my spare time you can find me getting lost in the woods or exploring some mountains, learning a new skill, nestled up with a good fantasy novella and spending time with my sweet fur child, Freddy. I currently am under the clinical direction of Melissa Dickinson, LPC #0005677 and am under Supervision of Alex Peskin, MFT #MFT001512
