Alissa has obtained her bachelors in psychology and her masters in clinical psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California. Currently Alissa is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Alissa has worked with clients in all stages of life. She has experience with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Alissa is able to work with individuals, couples, and families. She is passionate about trauma recovery and building resilience. Her desire as a therapist is to serve underserved populations as she believes everyone deserves to feel seen and heard. Her goals as a therapist is to assist her client's in 1) resolving old, unhealed wounds and trauma from their past, 2) identifying root causes of stress and difficult emotions, and 3) enhancing emotional and social functioning to improve their feelings of satisfaction and the overall quality of their lives. The primary modalities Alissa uses in therapy are psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, play therapy, person-centered therapy, and internal family system. She is also basic trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). When creating a treatment plan and choosing a modality for therapy, Alissa considers the specific needs of her clients.
