Introduction

Alexandria (Alex) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in adults and adolescents with trauma, anxiety, depression, maternal mental health and other chronic mental illness. She has training and experience working with children who have Autism, developmental disorders, behavioral concerns and working with their families. Her educational background and training include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University, a Masters of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, and an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership and Supervision from National Lewis University. Alex applies a strength-based and person centered perspective, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness to maximize a client’s potential. She is authentic and warm, sometimes uses humor at times to bring a unique approach to the therapy process. She is client-centered and does not use one approach for each client because there is no “one size fits all” solution. Alex believes the therapeutic relationship is the pinnacle of care. Alex strives to have her clients feel like they are heard through the establishment of a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space. The meaning behind Bluebird comes from the Native American legends as a symbol of hope, love, and renewal. It symbolizes the essence of life and beauty. Although we all face life's challenges, we can do so through the lens of the bluebird. In addition to working at Bluebird Counseling Services, Alex works at a high school as a school social worker. In her free time, she enjoys triathlons, reading, and spending time with her family and dogs.
