I am a bilingual (Spanish & English) and Bi-cultural (Mexican American) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Houston, Texas. Over the past ten years, I have gone from community organizing, coaching, and teaching, to now a Counselor with full licensure. I received my Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri (2014) where I specialized in Sport Psychology. At Mizzou I worked individually with student-athletes as a mentor and Sport Psychology Intern. I served as a manager with the Mizzou Soccer team while also as the Graduate Assistant for the LGBTQ Resource Center. Since then, I have worked in community agencies, in educational fields ranging from elementary schools to college campuses, and with clients in my private practice here in the Houston Area. These settings have helped me gain experience working with a wide variety of issues for a diverse population of clients. My strengths include working with teenagers and young adults that are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, multicultural issues, systematic oppression, and/or transitional issues related to adulthood. I also help people with LGBTQ+ concerns, unhealthy relationships, systematic trauma, racist experiences, microagressions, discrimination, and immigration issues. My counseling approach can be described best as teamwork. I believe our ability to communicate and establish a healthy relationship as a team is key to our success. You are the expert on your life. I am the therapist that gets the opportunity to walk with you as we learn new ways for you to cope. Our expertise combined helps us grow. I am interactive, open to feedback, motivating, empowering, patient, and enjoy using humor when appropriate. I love being a counselor because I see it as an opportunity to help people find new ways of coping to empower them to move forward with their goals. I see our work as helping you use your resources to build yourself up to cope with new challenges. Together we can build new ways of coping while empowering you to meet to meet your goals. I use a strengths based, trauma informed, and social justice lens. I primarily employ feminist and liberation approaches as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy techniques (ACT). I will always draw from various approaches to fit the unique needs of every individual. I look forward to working with you!
