Introduction

My name is Alana McCraw and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex of Texas. I found my calling at a very young age in middle school, when I became a peer mediator. I know understand that my ability to listen back then and hear the unspoken is now my "super-power." I truly enjoy supporting others and strive to do so by creating a safe space for them to show up exactly as they are. I specialize working with adult individuals who struggle with managing chronic stress, anxiety, and depression. I am also passionate about helping people who suffer from chronic pain, attachment issues, as well as eating disorders and body image concerns. I approach therapy from a holistic perspective that is primarily client-centered but I also view therapy through lenses of attachment theory and somatics. We are a culmination of our experiences, which are shaped by the people and environments that surround us, as well as what our bodies experience physically throughout our development. I am trained in Emotion Focus Therapy (EFT developed by Dr. Sue Johnson), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan), as well as Psychotherapeutic Yoga. I am currently being trained in Somatic Experience (SE developed by Dr. Peter Levine) to further assist my understanding about how trauma affects a person and is storied in the body. I believe each person already has exactly what they need to navigate life's ebbs and flows, but might not have access to a safe space to uncover those abilities. I am excited and honored to be able to offer that kind of space and would be more than happy to provide compassionate support for people to learn, heal, and/or discover themselves! The therapeutic relationship between a client and counselor is the foundation of successful and meaningful therapy, so if I happen to not be the best fit then I have a great referral network with another incredible clinician that might be exactly what you're looking for!
