Introduction

Alan Murray is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). He received a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling at IUPUC in Columbus, Indiana, along with a certification in Case Management. As a therapist, Alan works primarily from an existential perspective, using techniques from various treatment modalities. Alan has experience with Cognitive-Behavioral theory (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT), Dialectical-Behavioral Theory (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), among others, and employs these techniques with a person-centered approach to individualize treatment to each individual’s unique needs. Alan works well with trauma issues, communication/relationship issues, anxiety issues, and supports his clients in therapy to not only manage their mental health symptoms but to discover themselves on a deeper level and to move toward a life of meaning and purpose. Alan has experienced, firsthand, the transformational power of therapy, and is passionate about helping others in the same way. He is an INFP who enjoys writing, art, and being out in nature. He is also an advocate for social justice who enjoys volunteering and being involved in community organizations for the LGBTQ+ community.
