I am AJ Guerrero, a licensed therapist with over 7 years of experience dedicated to building authentic connections with my clients. I've served as a community based clinician in Justice Resource Institute, with a specialized role to work with LGBTQ+ families and youth of color, as an LGBTQ+ Director at Wellesley College and as a clinical intern at the Wheelock College Counseling Center in supporting college students. My clinical training focused on providing trauma-informed culturally conscious therapy to clients who come from many walks of life and intersecting identities, while utilizing kindness, metaphors and a light sense of humor in my therapy sessions. I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2016, and am professionally licensed in Massachusetts (Licensed Mental Health Counselor #12054). I use different counseling modalities based on clients presented needs such as evidence-based approach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Person Centered, Multicultural, Solution Focused and Strength-Based Therapy. I am a butch lesbian, Filipina immigrant, Neurodivergent woman who uses she/her pronouns. Outside of the practice, I am a mama to three adorable cats, cook with my partner and friends, and stay involved with my local women's motorcycle group in volunteering and leading pride parades. Before scheduling an appointment, I offer a free 15 minute consultation to obtain relevant information and determine fit. Email me at AJ@chosenheartcounseling.com to schedule a consultation. Insurance: I take Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna health insurance. If you do not have BCBS/Aetna or choose to pay the Self-pay/Out-of-pocket rate, weekly sessions cost $200 per session. I am an out-of-network provider for most PPO/POS insurance plans. This means that if your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you can collect partial reimbursement from your insurance company for the cost of sessions. (PPO/POS plans often reimburse therapy clients for 60-80% of session costs. Every plan is different, so please check with your insurance provider to determine your out-of-network arrangement.) Please note, I cannot guarantee you will receive reimbursements as all interactions with your insurance company are your responsibility. When contacting your insurance company it can be helpful to ask: Do I have out of network benefits for outpatient or behavioral health services? What are the benefits? Do I need a referral or pre-authorization to use my out-of-network benefits? What percentage of the service fee is covered? How do I submit receipts/superbills for reimbursement? (Most insurance companies allow for invoices to be submitted via their website.)
