Dr. Hornich earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Marshall University in 2008 with an emphasis in rural mental health. She completed her clinical internship at the Reading Hospital in PA with rotations on the child/adolescent, adult, and geriatric outpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient units, as well as a rotation in forensic assessment. Early in her career, she worked in the community mental health setting, was clinical director of a traumatic brain injury rehabilitation program, as well as a part-time adjunct faculty of psychology at Marshall University. Dr. Hornich worked with veterans at the Huntington, WV Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 13 years before opening a rural private practice in Louisa, KY. She provides treatment to adults on an outpatient basis from an integrated cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic treatment approach. Dr. Hornich holds certifications in clinical hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral therapy for depression, cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia, and prolonged exposure therapy, and is actively seeking certification in EMDR. Although her areas of interest include mood disorders, anxiety and trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, TBI, and chronic pain, she is a firm believer that "we could all use a little therapy in order to live our best lives."
