My name is Adrienne Skarin, and I am licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri. I have been in the mental health field for 10 years. I started as a mental health case manager, supporting clients with severe mental health illnesses in the community. After that, I provided therapy to women with co-occurring disorders, a mental health illness and a substance use disorder. After working in those non-profit organizations, I transitioned to working in a group private practice, specializing in working with adults 20+ with anxiety, trauma responses, stress, life transitions, and relationship issues. I use a combination of emotion regulation skill use, attachment styles, EMDR, CBT, while empowering clients to be the experts on themselves. Clients I work with often have a decreased stress response, feel more confident, have healthier relationships, and feel safe to be themselves. Why is mental health counseling important? Counseling provides a safe space to process thoughts, feelings and life experiences, and understand ourselves better. It can help you learn more effective ways to cope with life stressors, have healthier relationships, and overall decrease anxiety and stress. We all deserve to feel safe and confident in our day-to-day lives. Our stress responses and life experiences can get in the way of that. My goal is to help you build skills to feel safe to be truly you.
