I am an individual with a deep sense of empathy, curiosity, and passion for serving others. I am a therapist who has always had the ability to ‘sit in the dark’ with a person who has suffered pain, loss, and hopelessness in all of its manifestations. I have come to believe that a person’s inner strength does not require a fixed set of traits, but rather a willingness to take risks in order to achieve clarity, healing, and growth. As such, I have a genuine respect for the individual worth of others and deeply value the process of guiding clients toward discovering their own resilience. I have experience providing psychotherapy with individuals ranging from adolescence through adulthood with a variety of issues including interpersonal and relationship difficulties, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, bereavement, and PTSD. I have worked in neuropsychological and forensic settings, an outpatient psychiatric center, medical center, skilled nursing and residential facilities, assisted living facilities, as well as in private practice settings. During my doctoral internship at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital in Bedford, MA, I received specialized training in Geropsychology, working with older adult Veterans. I have a particular passion for working with older adults and issues within the context of late adulthood. My experience includes working with caregivers of and individuals with neurodegenerative disorders (i.e., Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular dementia, Parkinson’s disease, etc.), chronic medical illnesses, and terminal illness. I believe that at any age, there is a tremendous sense of meaning and power in a person’s story being heard and change being witnessed. My approach to therapy is integrative and person-centered, assimilating psychodynamic and interpersonal modalities with evidence-based strategies. I strive to provide a warm, safe environment that will allow individuals to utilize their strengths, unique capacities, and accountability. I believe that self-awareness is the deepest source of growth, and that the therapeutic relationship is a vessel for change.
