Introduction

~ lim·i·nal ~ "The uncertain transition between where you've been and where you're going" (verywellmind.com). Hi, I'm Addy! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, trained EMDR therapist, and certified yoga teacher (RYT-200). I completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Arizona University in 2022. College and twenties are times of huge transition, discovery, and opportunity, which can often lead to significant self-doubt, worry about the future, and regret about the past. Whether you're looking to build your self-confidence, strengthen your relationships, dive into your questions about the meaning of life, build skills for managing your emotions, or process past experiences that feel like they're on repeat in your mind, I'm here to support and walk alongside you. My primary hopes for counseling are to 1- create a space where you can comfortably and openly explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement, 2- strengthen the skills you already have and build new skills to manage difficult patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, and 3- accept and process past and ongoing experiences that may be contributing to these distressing and impairing patterns. I aim to do these things by using a trauma-informed approach that focuses on your holistic well-being, including the cultural and family systems you have grown up and lived in throughout your life. For skills-building, I primarily draw from DBT and ACT approaches. And when deeper processing is necessary, I primarily use EMDR that is informed by the polyvagal theory and ego states therapy. I understand that finding a counselor that is the best fit for you can often be the hardest and scariest part of therapy. Whether I end up being the right therapist for you, I am happy to help guide you through these first steps of the counseling journey. I offer free, 15-minute phone calls where we can work together to get you started on this journey. You can schedule this session through the link directly below. If any questions come up, feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email, and I'll get back with you within 24 hours. I hope to connect with you soon!
