Introduction

About me: I am an individual, couples, and family therapist who works adults and adolescents. I specialize in addressing issues related to trauma, PTSD, interpersonal challenges, life transitions, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, and relational distress. As an EMDR trained therapist I utilize this complimentary intervention when appropriate with traditional psychotherapy. I most often work with people seeking to improve the relationships within themselves and the people around them. I completed my Master of Social Work at University of Denver with a focus in family systems and a two-year post-graduate certification in Marriage and Family Therapy at Denver Family Institute. Educational Background and professional experiences: Currently, I am an Adjunct Instructor at Portland State University’s School of Social work and previously taught at University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. I share my passion for this work with graduate students by teaching courses in assessment and diagnosing mental disorders, treatment and interventions for adolescents and families, and experiential therapy interventions for individuals, couples, families, and groups. I have developed and facilitated presentations and trainings for mental health clinicians, community partners, parents, teens, and community members. I’ve held multiple roles as a Clinical Supervisor for therapists in community based outpatient organizations in Oregon and Colorado and provided clinical field supervison for masters level students at University of Denver, Metro State University, Regis University, and the University of Colorado. With extensive experience across clinical practice, supervision, academia, and community involvement I am an approved LCSW supervisor with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers. I assist clinicians in developing the necessary skills for therapists to effectively bridge the academic/practice gap. In my free time: You’ll find me amongst the mountains with my wife and our happy husky, family, and friends. My wife and I spend our winters tele skiing and summers mountain biking. The rest of the year you’ll find us trail running, surfing, climbing, and enjoying our garden. Each of these activities allow me to connect in ways that help me better understand myself and the world around me.
