Introduction

Abby is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Higher Sights Counseling. Originally from Florida, she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. Abby also has a certificate from Rollins College in College and University Counseling, which is a specialized area of study surrounding college student development. Abby has experience working with adolescents, college and university students, young adults and adults who struggle with a variety of presenting challenges such as: anxiety, depression, relational issues, self-esteem, disordered eating, identity exploration, substance use and anger management. Abby takes a person-centered and strengths based approach, while incorporating various therapeutic methods including EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness. Abby believes that no two people are the same and ensures she adjusts her approach to best suit the needs of each individual she works with. The therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance and Abby strives to always create a nonjudgmental and safe space for clients to heal and grow. Abby works collaboratively with clients to help them gain awareness and insight into their problems and empowers individuals by focusing on and identifying their own strengths. She assists clients by teaching practical coping skills that can be applied to their day to day lives with the goal of overcoming personal challenges.
