Introduction

Abbie earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UCF and her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling in 1998. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a certified clinical supervisor for Mental Health Interns. Abbie has over 25 years of experience working in a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatment settings. She has facilitated individual, group, and family counseling for children, adolescents, and adults. She has worked in residential, day treatment, and outpatient treatment centers as well as private practice. Abbie has worked with clients of all ages on a variety of issues ranging from depression, anxiety, anger, addictions, and self-harming behaviors. She finds that issues are often rooted in traumatic experiences and therefore she specializes in this trauma work. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and is a member of the EMDR International Association. She primarily uses CBT/TF-CBT and EMDR therapeutic modalities to help clients address past painful experiences that are negatively impacting them in the present. Abbie's goal is to empower each client to become a healthier version of him/herself. She provides a supportive, safe place and the tools needed to help clients achieve productivity and happiness.
