With over a decade of experience in couples and individual therapy, Aaron Bunker, MAMFT, LPC-S, has worked in both private and non-profit therapeutic settings with a widely diverse client demographic. He is passionate about understanding the cultural and societal impacts for his clients as well as helping them work on their relationships and personal growth in various therapeutic modalities. Even the best romantic relationships with the healthiest of individuals requires effort and dedication. If we aren’t intentional with our self-awareness, personal healing, and our connections with our partners, it is human nature to slip into our unhealthy default patterns of attachment1 that leave our relationships either in auto-pilot, or that push us well into relational crisis. This is why I firmly believe that therapy isn’t just for people in crisis; I specifically love working within the dynamic of a couple, but I deeply love that my job is also to help people become healthy, whole individuals to bring into their committed romantic relationships. As a therapist, I am here to help you untangle the knots that will cause inevitable struggles and maybe even crisis in your relationships. However, I’m also passionate about helping each person in a relationship work toward an understanding of their individual worth, what and how events in their lives have shaped them, in order to come to their relationships from a place of health and wholeness. Whether you are engaged, dating, living together, married, facing a major stressor like infidelity or separation, or you want to assess and grow in your communication skills with your partner, I use proven techniques from John Gottman's renowned couples counseling training and Sue Johnson’s Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) that can help get you back on track. I’m also passionate about following the scientific research and data in couples therapeutic techniques in order to best serve each client and couple that I have the privilege to work with. In the past I have also been trained as a certified sex therapist, and have specialized training in working with couples and individuals who face challenges in their sexuality. It is my top priority to create a safe, open space to explore sensitive issues such as intimacy, pleasure, addiction, sexual orientation, trauma, desire, and to help people appreciate their sexuality in light of their history, faith, and values. I enjoy speaking in my community and throughout the world about all things marriage and sex, but what I'm most passionate about is you and what you need right now. As a therapist, the most important person will always be the person sitting in front of me in that moment because I consider it a privilege that you would trust me with your story. I would be honored to work with you. Please contact me to schedule an appointment so we can plan together how to help you work toward living your life as your healthiest, whole self.
