What is an emotional transition?

An emotional transition is a transition that alters a person's emotional state. They happen when a person has problems letting go of the past. They can lead to feelings of loss, anxiety, and unpreparedness to handle the future. Emotional transitions are accompanied by fear, loneliness, and insecurity because the person is thrown into an unfamiliar environment or unstable world that they do not understand.

Some people may experience grief as they moan the stability of past life compared with the roller-coaster of their current life. An example of an emotional transition is the adjustment process children go through when starting early childhood education. The children are very emotional about separation from their parents and throw tantrums.
