What is Monarch?

Monarch is a national network of therapists and mental health providers. Our mission is to modernize the traditional process of finding and connecting with care. We recognize one of the biggest hurdles to starting therapy is actually finding a therapist and setting an appointment! Monarch allows therapists to fill out their profiles with relevant information like what they specialize in, if they accept insurance, and if they are accepting new patients. We also give them the ability to enable online booking, so you can book without ever picking up the phone to make an appointment.

Our relationship doesn't end once you’ve found a therapist. We’re here to serve as an ongoing resource, helping you to stay encouraged and supported throughout your journey.

Monarch is owned by SimplePractice, a technology company based in Southern California that helps therapists run their businesses more efficiently.

What does the name Monarch represent?

Butterflies have long been a symbol of transformation, and also of Psyche, the guardian of the soul in Greek mythology. Given that our parent company SimplePractice has used the butterfly for its transformational connotations, we felt it important to reference both our roots and the beauty and power that the butterfly, and its unique lifecycle, represents.

Across many cultures, the monarch’s bold, bright appearance has long signaled the return of a soul to its familial home. The monarch’s journey is ultimately a defining part of its existence. To us, the journey to improved mental health bears a resemblance to the monarch’s journey. Therapy can be a key to deep soul transformation and reminder that brighter days are always ahead.

How much does it cost to use Monarch?

Monarch is and always will be free for therapy seekers. Anyone can search our network and send a request to book an appointment. It’s important to note, Monarch is not a healthcare provider, and we are not affiliated with the therapists on our network.

Are insurance and billing handled on Monarch?

The short answer is no. We know it can be challenging to find affordable mental healthcare. You can filter searches by insurance providers and can see the therapists’ insurance and fee structure on their profiles—(if they’ve added this information).

Ultimately, insurance and billing are managed directly through the therapist.

How does Monarch treat customer data?

Monarch is committed to the highest privacy and security standards available today. All searches on our network are confidential and secure, as are appointment requests. Monarch does not sell customer data of any kind. Monarch is powered by SimplePractice , which is the only electronic health record (EHR) platform for private practitioners to be both HIPAA and HITRUST-CSF certified.

Can I trust the clinicians listed on Monarch?

Monarch is not a healthcare provider and is not affiliated with the therapists listed on our network—we’re simply modernizing the process in which therapy seekers like you connect with the right care. The therapists who are part of Monarch agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information at all times with respect to their specialities, credentials, practice, and/or business.
