Hello! I’m Mike. I’ve provided therapy for hundreds of people and have been to therapy myself, so I have some idea of what you may be facing as you consider going to therapy. Perhaps your life has reached a point where you are desperate for change, perhaps you’re scared to confront certain topics, or perhaps you’re totally willing to go to therapy and are excited by the opportunity to have some space for yourself. Whatever you are going through, I will create a safe space where you can fully explore yourself and your life situation without judgment. You need that degree of freedom in order to feel safe enough to explore issues that you usually resist addressing. Though it can be very healing to receive validation and acceptance, I’m also aware that you are probably not seeking therapy simply to be heard and have your statements parroted back to you. I will both accept you as you are and partner with you if you decide to make some changes in life. Unlike some types of therapy, I don’t secretly think you have irrational thoughts that need to be changed; rather, I see your thoughts as clues that can help us better understand you. I take an “eclectic” approach to therapy, meaning that I’m trained and experienced in many different forms of therapy and cater them to each individual client in each individual session. However, I naturally tend to take a person-centered and psychodynamic approach to therapy (which you can read about by clicking here). Throughout my career I’ve provided therapy for people with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance misuse, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and issues surrounding major life events such as a death or a faith crisis.
