Introduction

Karen Kincaid is an International Board of Christian Counseling certified Mental Health Life Coach (affiliated with the American Association of Christian Counseling). In addition to this, she graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling, a Master’s in Christian Education, and certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), a crisis/trauma intervention program. She has over 30 years of professional experience in counseling and education. Karen worked for ten years in an adolescent, locked, psychiatric facility (eight as a unit manager), in two different schools (one in Costa Rica as a missionary), and part-time in her church as a minister of education and pastoral counselor. She enjoys meeting new people and employs a Bible- based, eclectic approach, primarily looking at one’s thought life. With her training and experience, Karen will seek to help you in areas such as: *Mindset *Relationships *Anxiety *Stress *Communication *Social Skills *Self-esteem *Parenting *Grief *Conflict Management *Loneliness *Depression Her desire is that when she meets with a person he or she feels “seen, soothed, safe, and secure. The brain can do a lot of hard work for a long period of time, as long as it doesn’t have to do it by itself. Who among us doesn’t have something in our life we have simply given up on—some wound we assume won’t ever be healed, some ruptured relationship whose future we can picture only in images of the injured past, some addictive behavior we believe we can’t overcome, some part of our character in which we are so embroiled that we no longer even consider that it can change? Our discouragement and even despair about such things are, more than anything else, deeply dependent on the degree to which our minds and hearts are living in isolation.” * *Thompson, Curt, MD, The Soul of Desire: Discovering the Neuroscience of Longing, Beauty, and Community, InterVarsity Press, Downer’s Grove, IL, 2021, p. 135.
