John Powell

Mental Health Counselor, Therapist, Reiki Master John Powell
Available this week
Specialties: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Asexuality, Behavioral Issues,
Insurance: Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford

Introduction

My specialty is less in what I treat and more in how I approach therapy. In contrast to the "healthy normality" assumption of Western psych., My approach assumes that the psychological processes of a normal human mind (thoughts and feelings) are often destructive, creating suffering through inflexible thinking. Basically, our internal systems sometimes get outdated and stuck. Instead of problem focused, I'm values focused. We will find what you're about and how to move in that direction. I don't reduce symptoms; I help you produce meaning.
