Introduction

Helping clients reach their goals through telehealth has been an amazing experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked at Pen Bay Family Medicine in Mid-Coast Maine providing both in-person and telehealth behavioral health sessions as a part of the Behavioral Health Integration program at MaineHealth. I noticed that with masks off and clients in the comfort of their own home or office, we were able to make significant progress addressing traumatic experiences, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Post Traumatic Growth, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions and Caregiver Stress, decrease symptoms of Anxiety and Depression as well as Adjustment Disorders. Using a combination of FIT/Functional Imagery Training, CBT/Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR/Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and increasing coping skills with other evidence based practices, I have seen the difference therapy can make. I continue my private telehealth practice, A Personal Call LLC, but also advocate for policy, regulations and laws to be changed at the Maine State legislative level as a Board Member of the National Association of Social Workers Maine Chapter (NASW ME).
