Introduction

"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." Stephen R. Covey; The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. When we are seeking to better understand ourselves and our behavior, it can feel easier to discuss these topics in a safe, empathetic environment. The therapeutic relationship that I facilitate is unique in that it provides the client the opportunity to be heard and understood, without judgement, without fear. I began my career 16 years ago working in community mental health and substance abuse treatment centers specializing in dual diagnosis (substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions). I then joined a group private practice before transitioning entirely to telehealth. I utilize a variety of treatment techniques and theoretical ideologies, catering my therapeutic style to each individual client. I provide a supportive, safe, and empathetic environment for clients to discuss and explore their concerns, present situations, and past experiences. Having worked with a wide variety of clients, I pride myself on my ability to empathize with clients and develop the therapeutic rapport that enables growth and positive change. Self-pay has a variety of advantages; specifically allowing the clinician and client to determine treatment goals, frequency and duration of sessions, and the freedom to explore topics and issues without concern that a third party have access to some of your information.
