My Approach Samara is a licensed clinical social worker with a depth of experience working with survivors of trauma, working with women and marginalized groups. When working with her clients, Samara utilizes a variety of trauma informed approaches that is rooted in cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, family systems, multicultural, and strengths-based framework. She has had intensive training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and has received an Advanced Clinical Supervision Certificate from Smith College School of Social Work. Education & Training Samara began her career in the helping field providing in-home case management services to youth and families. During that time she grew a desire to learn more and earned her Master's Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Family Systems from Wayne State University. Prior to that time, she received her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Women's Studies from the University of Michigan. Since completing her education, Samara pursued opportunities to deepen her work in trauma supporting survivors of gender based violence in non profit and campus based programs. Samara has assisted survivors through navigating the criminal justice system, accessing health care and ongoing counseling support. Samara has worked with multiple populations to cope with anxiety, depression, grief and adult child concerns.
