Daily stressors, life transitions, relationship conflicts, and unexpected hardships can derail anyone’s attempt at achieving their ideal lifestyle. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have a passion for helping people successfully navigate through detours and obstacles that are often a natural part of life. My interests in emotional and mental health deepened while I was completing my bachelor's degree in Psychology and Trauma at Liberty University. I began to understand the important connection between difficulties from the past and current emotional and psychological well-being. Similarly, as I worked towards my Master's degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy at Messiah College, I also grew to appreciate how relationships and experiences with others can influence one’s sense of self and ability to cope. In the next phase of my academic experience, I also learned that I was not only interested in current forms of therapy but passionate about researching modern applications of treatment and training the next generation of counselors. This journey led me, once again, back to school, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. The basic tenets of my counseling method are based on person-centered, collaborative efforts. I utilize therapeutic traditions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and The Human Validation Model. The integration of these philosophies shows a close connection between thoughts feelings and behaviors while emphasizing the adaptive nature of your current strengths. Hopefully, our work together will provide a safe space for you to talk freely and explore your experiences. I believe that true change starts from a place of acceptance, trust, and empathy. As famed psychologist Carl Roger’s believed, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.” Some of life’s complications and detours can leave us feeling overwhelmed. I take great pride in supporting others as they navigate new territory and create long-lasting, lifestyle changes.
