Harvey Cottrell is an accomplished social worker licensed in the States of New Jersey and New York. He received a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Monmouth University in clinical social work with children and families. Additional studies include a post-graduate certificate in Adolescent Advocacy and a Master's Degree in Child Advocacy and Policy from Montclair State University. Currently, Harvey is engaged in study at Simmons University in the Doctorate of Social Work program with a focus on advanced clinical practice, teaching and leadership. Harvey has expertise in child welfare policy, child development, and child abuse prevention, trained through a consortium of Universities partnered with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. In June 2021 Harvey joined the Center for Functional Psychotherapy bringing his expertise in adolescent and family therapy. Harvey practices using ecological and holistic theory. Harvey has worked on numerous projects that advance social justice and human rights working with vulnerable and marginalized populations. He was the Monmouth University School of Social Work recipient of the Human Rights and Social Justice Award for 2019 and the recipient of the Hero Award by Legal Services of NJ 2019 in recognition of his "extraordinary passion, dedication, and effort in helping to make families whole again."
