Introduction

My name is David Christy (he/him) and I’m a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGCP) certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors in Maryland (LGP10478) and the District of Columbia (LGPC00633). I have experience working with people experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns from depression and anxiety, chronic pain, eating disorders, substance abuse/addiction and recovery, trauma, grief and bereavement; as well as with individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds dealing with the everyday challenges of life. I specialize in helping people struggling with high levels of shame, self-criticism, and feelings of unworthiness. My approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths-based; I work with individuals, couples, and families by helping my clients identify specific problems/challenges and then developing targeted strategies to reduce suffering, improve coping, and promote resilience.
